Rural Fire Service commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons has been made redundant from his position in the public service.
However with that agency being dissolved as part of an overhaul of the state's disaster management in response to the latest flood crisis, his position has been abolished.Shane Fitzsimmons led NSW through a horrific bushfire season, which saw 2500 people lose their homes, but another 14,000 saved. The agency was set up after the 2019-20 Black Summer bushfires to coordinate emergency services and their disaster management and given a budget of $771 million.
