Toronto city councillor Michael Thompson is charged with two counts of sexual assault.
The sexual assault charges Toronto city councillor Michael Thompson is facing relate to alleged incidents that took place at a private residence in Muskoka, according to police.
The OPP said it will not be releasing further details in order to protect the identity of the victims, but is asking for anyone who has information related to the investigation to come forward.Although the OPP statement didn’t specify when this year the alleged incidents occurred, Thompson’s lawyer Calvin Barry told media yesterday they took place in July, and the alleged victims are two adult women.
In a statement Thursday, Tory said Thompson had agreed to step down from his role as chair of the economic development committee, and give up the title of deputy mayor, a largely ceremonial position. He remains a city councillor.
