Following that announcement, Assistant Commissioner Brian Edwards, head of the Surrey RCMP said that Leckie had allegedly used his position as a police officer to obtain information and contact members of the public for the purpose of engaging in intimate relationships with women — both on and off-duty.Article content

A photo of Leckie – who has been with the Surrey RCMP since January 2010 – was released in a bid to gather any additional information from members of the public. At that time Edwards said that because Leckie faced criminal charges, the RCMP will be “engaging the process to move toward suspension without pay.”

The latests charges against Leckie are alleged to have occurred between January 2014 and December 2021.In 2016, Leckie was found partly responsible for a 2010 accident in which a woman was seriously injured during a police chase. Court heard Leckie pursued a vehicle then collided with a van, injuring the woman who was awarded $500,000 in compensation.
