BC Seniors Advocate, Isobel Mackenzie, is hosting a Town Hall Meeting in Prince George on Friday morning and Quesnel that afternoon.

During the meetings held in Prince George from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Elder Citizen’s Recreation Centre, 1692 Tenth Ave., and in Quesnel at the Quesnel Seniors Society Hall, 461 Carson Ave., from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., the Seniors Advocate will review specific challenges facing seniors living in rural communities and she would like to hear from members of the communities and the surrounding areas.

Mackenzie is retiring from her position in April and British Columbia's new seniors advocate is Dan Levitt, an adjunct professor of gerontology at Simon Fraser University and the head of a non-profit long-term care home. As were Mackenzie’s duties, Levitt will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing the province's services geared toward seniors in the areas of health care, housing, income support, community support and transportation, Adrian Dix, Health Minister, said when Levitt’s appointment was announced on Jan. 26, 2024.
