The assault left him with cuts and bruises, and the injuries to his mouth left him unable to use a straw because of the pain he’s experiencing. She says incidents like the one described are the result of a system not well designed to meet the individual and unique needs of people with dementia. She cites it as another example of the reason why a review has been called into Long Term and Personal Care homes in the province.
Meanwhile, Eastern Health says they are aware of the situation and are completing a thorough review of the incident, however are unable to publicly discuss an individual case.
