Reaching the midway point of the preseason, the Senators scored a 3\u002D1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in front of 12,276 on home ice.
There weren’t many recognizable names among the Jets that did make the short trip to Ottawa. No, the Jets didn’t bring much of a lineup, but the players they dressed competed hard. Battling to show he belongs, Lassi Thomson has had a solid camp, but he didn’t look good on the opening goal by the Jets. Thomson was unable to corral the puck behind the net and that resulted in a turnover. Alone in front, Harkins beat Merilainen with a wrist shot at 2:32 of the second.The club will face the Florida Panthers Sunday in Sydney, N.S.
