He hit back at the No campaign's slogan "If you don't know, vote no" during a regional Yes Voice forum in Orange on Wednesday night.A July Newspoll showed a No vote in regional areas of Australia was at 62 per cent, compared with 48 per cent across the country. The former rugby union veteran and Wallabies skipper said growing up in Zimbabwe taught him to appreciate a system where votes are fairly counted and that citizens should be engaged.More than 200 people registered for the session at Orange on Wednesday night.

He said his time in parliament had shown him politics was "a whole different kind of contact sport" and it had reaffirmed his support for the Voice as a "deeply practical" solution to growing disadvantage. "Absolutely I think there is a need for First Nations communities to advise the parliament," he said.
