Liberal Senator James Paterson has called for Labor to abandon its “wrong-headed” approach to misinformation and the government’s proposed bill. Mr Paterson warns social media posts will be taken down “left, right and centre” as platforms look to avoid any legal penalties. “Really it is a friendless bill – no one from the Human Rights Commission, the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance, the platforms themselves and media companies support the bill in its current form and I think it has to go,” he told Sky News Australia.
