Raffy Tulfo on Saturday issued a statement expressing concern over the ongoing delays in the sponsorship of important bills, attributing the holdup to the chaos in the Senate and calling for a probe to address the situation.
"It is saddening that many important legislative measures are prepared for sponsorship but are continuously being delayed due to the chaos in the Senate," Tulfo said in Filipino. "There should be a transparent investigation into what happened, and the truth must come out so that our work will return to normal and we can perform our mandate as entrusted to us by the public," he added.
The senator emphasized that the Senate's integrity and credibility should take precedence over political maneuvering and personal agendas, asserting that the institution is fundamentally designed to serve the Filipino populace. Sen. Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV on Thursday filed a resolution seeking a probe into the Senate shooting incident, expressing concerns about security and institutional integrity.
Senate Resolution 397 calls on the appropriate Senate committees to investigate, in aid of legislation, the circumstances surrounding the incident, which involved the discharge of firearms within Senate grounds amid the presence of armed law enforcement personnel
