Quebec\u0027s MNAs need no longer swear allegiance to the country. Someone should probably care
In another sense, though, it’s not law at all: You won’t find Quebec’s unilateral amendment included in any copy of the Constitution, online or off. It’s bizarre.
“Every member of a … legislative assembly of any province shall before taking his seat therein take and subscribe before the lieutenant governor of the province … the oath of allegiance,” Section 128 currently reads.Article content As it stands it’s all moot, because no one is challenging the law.
