PETALING JAYA: Selangor will appeal the decision of the Malaysian Football League to impose a RM100,000 fine and deduct three points from the team for their refusal to play the May 10 Charity Shield match against Johor Darul Ta'zim ."The club requested for a postponement of the match after the heinous act of violence towards Faisal Halim on May 5 along with multiple incidents involving other professional footballers," said the club in a statement on Tuesday .
"However, the club’s request for the postponement was rejected. The club will appeal the decision and explore all available avenues," it added. The MFL board also decided that the Super League match next year involving Selangor against JDT at the Petaling Jaya Stadium will be played without spectators.
On May 8, Selangor requested the game to be postponed but when MFL refused to do so, they decided to withdraw from the Charity Shield game due to security reasons.The club said they were concerned for the safety of its players and did not want to play in the curtain-raiser match for the league.
