PENERBIT dan pengarah filem tempatan Michelle Xin menerima satu lagi suntikan semangat apabila Menteri Pembangunan Perindustrian dan Keusahawanan Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe mengikrarkan sokongan untuk projek terbaharunya, The Rise of Lion II: The Return.
Xin berkata, Phoong bangga dengan projek itu kerana menerima geran daripada Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional Malaysia baru-baru ini.“Lima tahun lalu, Datuk Phoong memberikan sokongan besar dalam banyak aspek, termasuk kewangan untuk filem cereka pertama kami, The Rise of Lion,” katanya selepas bertemu Phoong di pejabatnya, baru-baru ini.
“Finas hanya menyediakan dana pelengkap yang meliputi sebahagian daripada jumlah kos, dan pengeluar perlu mencari sumber lain untuk membiayai projek mereka,” katanya.Xin menegaskan bahawa perjuangan dalam kancah pembikinan filem tempatan Sabah sememangnya tidak mudah.“Selain itu, saya juga ingin mengucapkan terima kasih kepada Kapitan Li Su Fook kerana memberikan bimbingan sepanjang perjalanan pembikinan filem saya.
“Saya dapat lihat pembikin filem tempatan semuanya cuba memperbaiki diri dan sentiasa belajar daripada kesilapan lalu. Xin berkata dia lebih suka menumpukan pada perkara positif daripada membiarkan kata-kata hasutan mengaburkan pandangannya.
