Most recent Project Gateway raids in Ontario spark recovery of 1,364 kilograms of cannabis worth $3 million — via TheGrowthOp cannabisnews police
It is alleged the group employed illegal foreign workers to work at cannabis production sites and to clean chain hotels. The group produced cannabis on a massive scale and smuggled it into the U.S. using transport trucks and conspired to smuggle cocaine from Mexico and Los Angeles into Canada by transport truck and boat. They also operated cocaine extraction labs on rural properties in southwestern Ontario, smuggled large amounts of tobacco from the U.S.
The cannabis-related charges laid include possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution, cultivating cannabis from a seed or plant material, knowing it was illegal, cultivating cannabis without authorization in a dwelling or house, exporting cannabis, conspiracy to export cannabis and possession for the purpose of distributing cannabis resin.
Among the other drug charges are conspiracy to import cocaine and conspiracy to possess cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, while for tobacco, the press release cites conspiracy to smuggle and unlawful possession or sale.Photo by Niagara Regional Police Service, YouTube
