Councillor Shauna Cusack has followed Strabane councillor Jason Barr in quitting the party
A second SDLP councillor in the Derry and Strabane area has quit the party amid fallout over the selection process for the appointment of a new mayor in the area.
A statement posted by Cllr Cusack on social media on Wednesday came after Barr quit the party on Monday. "The events leading to this decision have been well publicised so there is no need for further explanation. I will be declining to make any additional media statements or comment as enough damage and hurt has been caused by this debacle already.
"I would like to please implore those blaming the person not the process, to welcome Lilian as your new Mayor, she said.
