The pilot who managed to land the second helicopter after a deadly collision on the Gold Coast with another chopper mid-air has been commended by aviation experts for his skill to save his passengers.
Michael James, 52, was landing his Eurocopter EC130B4 at Sea World on the Gold Coast about 2pm on MondayThe force of the crash tore off both rotors on the aircraft which was taking off before it fell and landed upside down on a sandbank, killing four people and severely injuring three others.

Picture: Gemma Ferguson Aviation expert Keith Tonkin told Sky News Australia on Tuesday night Mr James did an"amazing job" to land his aircraft under the extreme circumstances he faced.
Australian Transport Safety Bureau Commissioner Angus Mitchell echoed the remarks on First Edition, saying the death toll could have been much higher. Mrs de Silva is in serious condition at the Gold Coast University Hospital after breaking both her legs, damaging her left knee, breaking her right shoulder and collarbone.
