Environment Canada says the low-pressure system will bring heavy snow to New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia

Schools across the Maritimes are closed today as a snowstorm bears down on the region, the second blast of winter in as many days. Environment Canada says a low-pressure system will approach from the southwest and track across Nova Scotia into this evening, bringing heavy snow to New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.Story continues below advertisement
In Nova Scotia, heavy snow is expected to change to ice pellets or freezing rain in the afternoon, and then rain later in the evening along the Atlantic Coast.Some flights at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Fredericton International Airport and Charlottetown Airport were delayed or cancelled.
Meanwhile, the national weather forecaster was warning of strong winds of up to 100 kilometres an hour in parts of Newfoundland, causing blowing snow and poor visibility.
