THE scheduled signing of the 2025 General Appropriations Act on December 20, 2024, was canceled to allow more time for a rigorous and exhaustive review of the measure, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said.In a statement, Bersamin raised the need for the measure to be revisited, noting that it will determine the course of the nation for next year.“The ongoing assessment is being led by the President himself, in consultation with the heads of major departments,” he said.
Under the law, “the State shall assign the highest budgetary priority to education and ensure that teaching will attract and retain its rightful share of the best available talents through adequate remuneration and other means of job satisfaction.”Education Secretary Sonny Angara earlier expressed dismay over the budget cut in which P10 billion was intended for the agency’s computerization program.
