The Supreme Court will hold next week the 1st National Shariah Summit in a bid to address issues challenging the country’s Shariah legal and judicial system and to explore opportunities on how to strengthen the support for Shariah justice in the country.
strengthen the support for Shariah justice in the country. The summit, which will be held in Cagayan de Oro City on March 5 and March 6, will gather over 300 participants including justices, judges, prosecutors and lawyers from all branches of government, according to the high court.
Also joining are Shariah counselors, Shariah judges, members of the academe, representatives of nongovernmental organizations, as well as foreign delegates from countries, which implement Shariah laws, it added. The speakers in the event include Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, who will discuss the Supreme Court’s Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022-2027 on Strengthening the Foundations of Shariah.
