A northern Ontario teen owns the luck of the draw after scoring a multimillion-dollar jackpot on her first-ever lottery ticket.
Juliette Lamour, who had just turned 18, bought a 6/49 ticket last month after her grandfather encouraged her to do so. The youngest Canadian ever to win such a big prize, she didn’t know what lottery ticket to choose when she went to purchase a ticket.
The Sault Ste. Marie teen forgot about her ticket until a co-worker told her that the winning Lotto 6/49 ticket worth $48 million was sold in Sault Ste. Marie.“My colleague fell to his knees in disbelief. He was yelling, in fact everyone was yelling that I won $48 million!” said Lamour of her Gold Ball jackpot on the ticket.
Lamour said she couldn’t focus on work after learning she’d just become a multimillionaire. “I was crying happy tears,” Lamour said. “My boss told me I could go home, but my mom wanted me to stay and finish my shift! My colleagues called out, ‘Come and get her,’ and my parents eventually came to pick me up.”Lamour already has expert help: her father is a financial planner.
