“It’s part of your social licence,” Morrison said. “People want authenticity and they want to feel like they’re part of a community. They want to go to a brewery that’s part of the community. I don’t think you could just sit back and sell beer. If you did, I don’t think you’d be very successful.”Beer is putting a little prairie town on the map.
Nokomis credits the taste of its beer to local aquifer water and Saskatchewan-grown barley. Mark admitted he was “woefully behind” on beer trends before the brewery came to town, but it didn’t take long to see the benefits. Building a welcoming space was a cornerstone of the Regina brewery’s design. Smith said neither he nor his co-owner, Kelsey Beach, wanted a “classic bar idea.”botanical garden than a bar. It’s rustic, but hip.“I think it’s been positive on the neighbourhood,” Smith said.
The Yevshan Ukrainian Folk Ballet Ensemble paired up with 9 Mile Legacy Brewing to create Yevshan Honey Wheat Ale. Proceeds helped those who had fled the war in Ukraine. In September 2023, Rebellion went outside its provincial borders to team up with XhAle Brew Co. in Calgary for a sour beer that’s raising money for Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse. The beer is called Ask For It and comes with the message “Don’t flock around without consent.”
The YWCA had taken on a handful of new apartments to house clients, and they all needed furniture and other housewares moved in – fast.
