The Department of Transportation (DOTr) anticipates the completion of the first phase of the Southeast Metro Manila Expressway, or C6 Expressway, within the next two to three years. This major infrastructure project, also known as Skyway Stage 4, is a joint venture between San Miguel Corp. and Philippine National Construction Corp. and will provide a much-needed alternate route from Parañaque to Quezon City.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) expressed confidence on Monday that San Miguel Corp . will complete the initial phase of the Southeast Metro Manila Expressway, also known as the C6 Expressway , within the next two to three years. DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista stated that the 32.7-kilometer toll road , which incorporates both elevated and at-grade sections, will provide a much-needed alternative route connecting Parañaque to Quezon City.
This new route aims to bypass heavily congested roads, offering relief along EDSA and other crucial transportation corridors. Bautista emphasized that the P45.29-billion project, spearheaded by San Miguel Corp. and Philippine National Construction Corp., represents a steadfast commitment to long-term solutions for urban mobility.San Miguel Holdings Corp. and the state-run Philippine National Construction Corp. recently solidified an agreement to jointly undertake a P554-billion expansion of toll roads under their existing joint venture. This extensive undertaking encompasses multiple projects, including the San Pedro-C6 Laguna Lake Road, extending the South Luzon Expressway from San Pedro, Laguna, along the shores of Laguna Lake, and culminating at C6 in Taguig. The agreement also includes the development of the Tanauan-Tagaytay Expressway (Sky 8), which will provide a direct connection between these two key locations. Other projects in the pipeline are TR5, extending SLEx from Pagbilao, Quezon to Matnog, Sorsogon; Sky 7, connecting Taguig to Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City; the Buendia Interchange and Ramp Extension to Macapagal Boulevard; and Sky 9, the Pasig River Alignment, featuring ramps connecting to Buendia, Pioneer, and Bonifacio Global City. Both SMHC and PNCC hold joint venture partnerships in Citra Central Expressway Corp. and Citra Intercity Tollways Inc., the concession companies responsible for Skyway Stages 3 and 4, respectively. Through its legislative franchise, PNCC possesses the authority to construct, maintain, and operate SLEx and Skyway Stages 1, 2, 3, and all extensions, linkages, or stretches originating from any part of the existing toll roads. SMC's expressway portfolio includes the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX), the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), the Skyway System, and the NAIA Expressway (NAIAX)
