"I can't sell soiled mattresses or mattress bases, I definitely can't sell an exercise bike with no handles," he said.A Salvation Army store owner pleaded for the illegal dumping to stop outside his charity shop, after spending $37,000 a year to dispose of rubbish left on his doorstep. Last year Dale spent $37,000 in tip fees to dispose of the rubbish and said he was expecting to pay closer to $48,000 this year. The dumping also makes the shop vulnerable to thieves, who Dale said stole his security camera."You hear them all hours of the night, banging in the bin, you wake up in the morning and sometimes people are hopping out of the bin," neighbour Shane said.

The rubbish often makes its way onto the car park and the road causing hassles for drivers and customers. A Salvation Army spokesperson said the stores used 86 per cent of donations and "couldn't operate" without them.
