The teal independent’s former chief of staff will no longer be employed by the Commonwealth.
The social activist had her application dismissed by Justice Debra Mortimer in Federal Court in Melbourne on Tuesday.
She was fighting to have the termination of her employment as Dr Ryan’s chief-of-staff overturned after claiming she was pushed out by the MP after raising concerns about working over 70 hours a week.The interlocutory hearing comes ahead of a larger trial which is expected to last for months.Ms Rugg launched legal proceedings against the Commonwealth government and Dr Ryan in January, alleging a breach of"general protections" under the Fair Work Act.
