A flyer authorised by the Australian Greens has created controversy for its deliberately bold and colourful language as SA party members say it blindsided them.
The language used in an election flyer apparently authorised by the Australian Greens has offended some politicians.Liberal MP for Sturt James Stevens said he was looking into whether the language used was legal under the Electoral Act.
"The old blokes in suits are just filling their pockets with big donations from billionaires and big corporations," it said. "Sometimes in political parties, different divisions use colourful language that's a bit in appropriate … It's not the sort of tone that we want to set."Legality questioned "I think it's just as inappropriate for this to be done anywhere in the country, and I look forward to Adam Bandt today distancing himself from this sort of conduct as well."SA Premier Peter Malinauskas said he was not easily offended by such language but had a bigger problem with the flyer's tone.
A majority of listeners in feedback to ABC Radio Adelaide, however, showed their support for the flyer's message: Surely there are bigger issues to discuss between James Stevens and the Greens. Cost of living, climate crisis, to name a few? Would love to hear that.
