11-08- 2023 01:57 PM: Abang Abdillah Izzarim Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari has been appointed as an independent non-executive director of Berjaya Land Bhd effective Aug 10.Berjaya Land belongs to Berjaya Group, who’s founder is Tan Sri Vincent Tan. reported a Bursa filing stating that Abang Abdillah started his career as a commercial pilot before moving into the technology and business industry.
He is currently a chairman at Sarawak-based telecommunications company Irix Sdn Bhd and is also executive chairman at Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd, a role he took on in June.“Known for his hands-on approach, Izzarim actively engages in day-to-day operations, leading and guiding his team to ensure alignment with client expectations and fruitful business partnerships,” said the filing.
Tan and Berjaya Land are seeking general, compensatory, aggravated, and exemplary damages from Sanusi as well as an injunction to compel him from repeating any and all matters alluding to them contained in his speech. The defamatory allegations, aimed at damaging the business reputation of Tan and Berjaya Land contained politically-motivated, malicious and disparaging statements, have been categorically denied by Berjaya Land and a point-by-point rebuttal was issued via a press release by Berjaya Land on Aug 4 to correct the false and misleading statements made by Sanusi.
