WITH huge resources at his disposal and the expectations that come with a team laden with such fine talent, Pep Guardiola’s failure to win the Champions League with the Citizens thus far is often frowned upon by those in the red half of Manchester, and beyond.
To some extent, there is substance in making the case that he should have done better for Manchester City by now.And after the way they tore Bayern Munich apart in the quarter-final first leg in midweek, there is little to suggest that they cannot go all the way and win it this season.
A win for the Citizens would take them to within two points of Premier League leaders Arsenal, who play West Ham tomorrow, and with the same number of games played. Smith’s baptism of fire is expected to rain goals, with more than just a few pundits forecasting a defeat in the range of four or five goals today.
