“We are on the offensive. The aim is to stretch the positions of the enemy, to inflict maximum losses and to destabilise the situation in Russia as they are unable to protect their own border,” the security official said on condition of anonymity., highlighted that Russian forces appeared to have started a fire in one of the cooling towers of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant it has occupied since the early days of the war.
There has been speculation that Ukraine may try to capture a Russian nuclear power plant at Kurchatov near Kursk, but it is over 30 miles from the current fighting and it is thought that it would be a stretch for Kyiv’s forces to reach that far.
