North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin at an unspecified location in Russia’s Far East region later in the week. Kim Jong Un arrived in Russia on board a heavily armoured train yesterday ahead of his meeting with the Russian president. Vladimir Putin is currently attending the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok which is Russia’s closest city to the North Korean border. North Korea Political Expert Dr Leonid Petrov believes the meeting between the meeting is significant for both parties and gives Russia the chance to demonstrate its new diplomatic ambition following its invasion of Ukraine. “Russia has been increasingly isolated and … it’s important to demonstrate that he (Vladimir Putin) is not just someone who is now being sought by the International Criminal Court but also supported by the neighbouring states like North Korea.”
