Russia fires a barrage of missiles at Kyiv in an unusual daytime attack on the Ukrainian capital following overnight strikes.
Kyiv's military administration said the latest attack involved only Iranian-made Shahed drones, and no missiles as was the case in most previous raids.
It was not immediately known how many drones Russia had been launched and there was no immediate comment from Moscow. Ukrainian officials said most of the drones and missiles fired on Sunday and Monday had been shot down, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised US-supplied Patriot anti-missile defences.
Kyiv received its first shipments of the American-made Patriot surface-to-air missile system in April, and US President Joe Biden on Monday suggested more aid was to come.
