Actress Rufa Mae Quinto surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation ( NBI ) on Wednesday in connection with her case involving Dermacare . On the program 'Fast Talk With Boy Abunda' on Wednesday, host Boy Abunda said that he spoke with the actress and her lawyer, Atty. Mary Louise Reyes. According to Tito Boy, Rufa Mae is expected to be released later today once the bail process is complete. 'We are coordinating with the NBI to assist in the voluntary surrender and bail of Ms. Quinto.
She remains committed to the legal process,' said Reyes. The lawyer also asked the public to avoid judging based on 'inaccurate and incomplete information.' 'We hope everyone understands the importance of withholding other information for now until everything is resolved. We stand by the truth. Thank you so much,' she added. Quinto is facing charges related to Dermacare, the same company that led to the arrest and detention of actress-entrepreneur Neri Naig in December. Both actresses endorsed Dermacare. Lawyer Reyes previously stated that Rufa Mae is facing 14 counts of violating Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code, which states that securities such as shares and investments cannot be sold in the Philippines without a registration statement submitted and approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The lawyer also clarified that Rufa Mae has not been charged with large-scale estafa, who recently returned to the country from America
