Rufa Mae Quinto urged complainants who filed charges against her to also pursue Dermacare , the company at the heart of the controversy. In an ambush interview with GMA Integrated News reporter John Consulta after surrendering to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Quinto stated she is also a victim. She claims Dermacare did not pay her for endorsing their products, stating that all checks bounced and they canceled her endorsement.
Quinto appealed to the complainants to focus on the company owners and shed light on who the real culprits are, rather than solely targeting her as a celebrity. She emphasized that the company owners should also be held accountable. Quinto faces 14 counts of violating Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code, related to unregistered securities sales. However, her lawyer, Atty. Mary Louise Reyes, clarified that this is not a large-scale estafa case. She is expected to post bail of P1.7 million. Quinto expressed a desire to clear her name and Reyes expressed confidence in her client's innocence
