“The project is slated to begin on Aug 1 and be completed in March 2024,” said MBPP development architect Cho Ching Sin.
Unpredictable weather, however, can create an uncomfortable environment for the food complex’s growing number of patrons.
“Those who might otherwise sit and enjoy their meal or order other items will quickly leave as they want to avoid the heat or the rain.”The extension will be built in stages over the open area and is not expected to disrupt stall operations. The complex, originally built in 1966, was upgraded in 2014 and accommodates 54 stalls.
MBPP development architect Cho Ching Sin said the project involved a metal deck roofing and layer of insulation being added to the current structure.Cho said the project which was currently open for tender would cost RM389,195.“It should take seven months including planning,” he said, adding that the roof extension would take only three months to build.
