ROLLING WITH DYCE: Ottawa Redblacks overcome injuries to win in Montreal
Said Dyce: “I told at halftime, ‘I never said we’re going knock them out in the first half, I just said we’re going to win the fight.’ That’s what they did. The players outphysicaled at the point of attack. The players believed in the coaches, the coaches believed in the players. With a lot of belief, great things can happen. Offensively, we had so many injuries, guys just kept replacing guys and fighting. I’m just so happy for these guys.
“We were trying to get his first win as our head coach here and we were dealing with injuries and adversity,” said Arbuckle. “It was such a tough situation for Will when we lost Dedmon. Half of our second-down package was going to be personnel with Dedmon on the field. So, we had to scratch out half our game plan. Then we lost Acklin and we didn’t even have five receivers healthy.
Under pressure, Arbuckle lofted a 40-yard pass to Darvin Adams — to the Montreal 15-yard line. On the first play of the second quarter, Evans pushed over the goal line for the touchdown. The convert made it 7-3 for Ottawa.
