Najib's lawyer did not object to the prosecution's application.

Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Saifuddin Hashim Musaimi told the High Court here that he received instructions from the Attorney General to request for another date for case management in September."The amount involved in this case is too big. We need more time to review the letter of representation from the accused ," he said.

Mohd Irwan's lawyer Datuk K. Kumaraendran asked the court, however, for an earlier date in July as the case has been pending for five years.Justice Muhammad Jamil Hussin then fixed Aug 9 for the next case management. On April 3, DPP Muhammad Saifuddin Hashim Musaimi informed the court that the AGC was currently studying a letter of representation by Mohd Irwan, which raised many new issues.On Oct 25, 2018, Najib, 70, and Mohd Irwan Serigar, 66, pleaded not guilty to six charges of CBT amounting to RM6.6bil in government funds involving payments to the International Petroleum Investment Company .

Najib and Mohd Irwan were jointly accused of committing all the offences at the Finance Ministry Complex, Putrajaya between Dec 21, 2016 and Dec 18, 2017. They were charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 of the same Code which provides for a maximum of 20 years’ jail and whipping as well as a fine upon conviction.
