Poor drainage has been identified as the cause of the dengue problem in the area.
To eliminate these mosquito breeding grounds, two culverts will be built in Lorong Kapor 3 and another one in Lorong Oya 8 at a cost of RM50,000 under the Rural Transformation Project fund.“Because of the collapse of these crossovers, the drain has been turned into a pond,” said Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng.
“As such, we need to remove the collapsed crossovers and build a new culvert for them,” he said as he handed the project over to the contractor at the site.Chieng said RTP funds would be used for the project as the houseowners could not afford to repair the collapsed crossovers.“I hope the contractor can start soon and finish it earlier,” he added.
