The Special Corruption Court on Friday heard that a former engineer handed over his own money of RM300,000 to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission soon after he was released from remand when the centralised collection scheme was uncovered in 2016.

The prosecution’s 33rd witness, Tam Yin Foon, who was a Kota Belud water engineer from 2002 to 2007 and later a Keningau water engineer since 2007, told Judge Abu Bakar Manat this during cross-examination by counsel Datuk Tan Hock Chuan, who was representing former State Water Department Deputy Director Lim Lam Beng .Tam disagreed with Tan when asked that since the RM300,000 was his own money and had nothing to do with the present case, there was no need for him to hand it over to the MACC.

To a suggestion during cross-examination by Priskila that the offence regarding the 10.75 per cent collection was still continuing and no complaint was made because he deliberately wanted to continue the wrongdoing, Tam replied that he agreed no complaint was made and that indeed he deliberately continued at that time.
