BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Federal Government has allocated RM21.657mil to develop the agriculture sector in Penang this year.
Penang caretaker chief minister Chow Kon Yeow said the amount would be used for both physical and human capital in the industry.
"The state through its tabling of Budget 2023 has allocated RM17.335mil for development of the agro-food sector encompassing infrastructure and incentive , farmers aid , livestock sector , cockles farming and fishermen net incentives . "The state hopes that with aid being channelled, we will achieve the vision in line with National Agrofood Policy 2021-2030 to develop a sustainable agro-food sector that is high-tech and spur the economy," he said on Wednesday .
The ceremony also saw Chow handing out mock cheques for the initiatives to representatives of various groups.
