The housing outcome cannot just be a dense and barren field of houses without the services that make the areas livable and enjoyable.
Municipalities can likely approve many more homes but new homeowners expect progress on a reliable transportation and transit network. The federal and provincial governments have thankfully made commitments to invest in infrastructure and provide a reliable share of the gas taxes.
The city will also need to put energy and staff effort towards approving commercial and institutional development. The focus should be on building balanced communities where residents can work, live and play in their own neighbourhood.
