Ottawa firefighters performed a rescue on the Ottawa River after a witness spotted a boater and his dog stuck in the Deschênes Rapids.
Firefighters arrived within four minutes, according to fire officials, after they were alerted by a civilian at 2:23 p.m. Monday.Rescue crews confirmed the boat “was stuck on a rock shelf in the middle of the rapids” and was unable to dislodge.
A water rescue team made its way through the fast-flowing rapids, which are located at a narrowing of the Ottawa River, just downstream from Britannia Beach in the city’s west end. There was one man on board the boat, along with his dog.
