Ringgit slips further v dollar at close

The ringgit slips further against the US dollar and is expected to remain weak after breaching its immediate resistance level of RM4.4236 against the greenback. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, April 18, 2023.

At 6pm, the local note depreciated to 4.4315/4360 versus the greenback from yesterday’s closing rate of 4.4200/4250. Mohd Afzanizam said despite the weaker ringgit, the local note would receive some support as China released its gross domestic product results for the first quarter of this year, which grew more than expected at 4.5% against consensus estimates of 4%.
