Tennis Australia top boss has been forced to weigh in on calls for a major Australian Open shake up which would impact the entirety of the tennis calendar.

Every year there are calls to move the dates of the tournament due to the gruelling conditions of the January heat in Australia and to give players more of an off-season.

Responding to criticism around the sweltering conditions, Mr Tiley reiterated that players were arriving earlier for the tournament to acclimatise to the Australian heat and were happy to do so.

Australian player Alex de Minaur supported the start of the season down under and said local talent “thrived” in the heat.
