Ribfest organizers ready for three-day event in August

Ribfest is preparing to set up at the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition grounds again, with the three-day event set to run from Aug. 25-27.

With last year's event being the first one after the pandemic, it was notably quieter than anticipated. As a main sponsor of the event, Half-Way Motors Group representative Daniel Trevisanutto is excited about the summer food-oriented event coming back for summer 2023. Trevisanutto noted that there will be three favourite ribbers coming back to Thunder Bay — Ribs Royal, Dinosaur Smokehouse and local restaurant Daytona's.

Trevisanutto also announced that this year there will be a cornhole tournament for people to participate in along with more family fun activities planned over the three days. Our Kids Count development manager Emey Hendricks said that this year's 50/50 draw is all online, which makes it easier for everyone to buy tickets and see the money pot grow. Their goal this year is to raise $100,000, which will help fund a multitude of programming including Big Brothers Big Sisters, various workshops as well as their community kitchens and emergency food cupboard.
