Banning the provincial anthem from convocation ceremonies was cowardly idiocy
Safe spaces. It is a nothing phrase. It is empty of meaning. It is the jargon of the woke. It is a cowardly genuflection to the pretended fragilities of grievance harvesters. It is trite and rote, a plastic “word-wand” waved by inferior magicians, to hold back all thought and objection to their dumb claims.
How often since the terrible morning of July 1, 1916, at Beaumont Hamel, has the Ode to Newfoundland been sung to their honour; to the consolation of their parents, wives, and children? An ode is a secular hymn.An insult to meaning and memory How does a song of love and respect for Newfoundland constitute an offence at a convocation? How does wiping away the Ode represent an advance?
