Reps commence implementation of mid plenary tea break
The House of Representatives has changed the process of plenary by having tea break in between plenary.
On Wednesday the House also observed the 15min break to allow members to have tea break while the Muslim members can observe noon prayer.Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house, said they should use the time to rest and take tea before resuming their proceedings. He had said: “There should be 15 minutes break during sitting to allow members who want to go to the mosque to pray rather than us filing in and out; to allow members to refresh their minds and their legs.
“Hopefully, there will be coffee and tea outside at the lobby for members. A 10 to 15 minutes break, going forward from Tuesday.” It Is not certain yet whether the new tradition will reduce incidents of aimless roaming by members as envisaged by speaker, Gbajabiamila.
