David Griffin is finalizing a deal to become the next President of Basketball Operations with the New Orleans Pelicans, league sources tell ESPN.Griffin previously served as General Manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers, overseeing the franchise during its lone championship season in 2015-16. The 46-year-old executive will have his hands full this off-season as he tries to find a compelling trade package for star power forward Anthony Davis.

Davis remains under contract through the 2019-20 season, but made his trade request publicly known near the end of January. The All-NBA talent will have plenty of suitors this off-season, including the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers.
