Officials at Drexel University in Philadelphia are investigating whether a Jewish student was the victim of a hate crime in the wake of the terrorist invasion of Israel.
The resident of the dorm in question is Jewish, a Drexel spokesperson told local outlet WCAU, and campus police are now investigating whether the situation was a hate crime. “As a campus community, we need to maintain an environment of mutual respect that supports the free expression of ideas through civil discussion and peaceful protest while facilitating deep and authentic exploration of complex issues,” Fry wrote in a campus-wide announcement. “At the same time, there is a line between expressing strong opinions through robust discussion, debate, and peaceful protest — and targeting any individual for discrimination, intimidation, or hate.
