The goalie, sidelined since Dec. 1, left practice early on Thursday. The Fourth Period's Irfaan Gaffar reports Demko "tweaked something."
Demko, who has been sidelined since Dec. 1 when he suffered a lower-body injury stopping a shot against the Florida Panthers, appeared to leave the practice ice early on Thursday in frustration. Afterwards, head coach Rick Tocchet said he hadn’t received a report on Demko.
On Tuesday, Demko was hopeful he’d be able to be the Canucks’ backup goalie Saturday against Philadelphia, and would be ready to start again soon. At the time, Tocchet said he wanted to get the veteran a couple more practices before handing him back the starting job. “It’s an ongoing thing with him and it’s something we’re going to see day to day,” said Tocchet. “He’s getting healthier and we need some practices with him in the net, so that’s our goal. Get three or four more practices with him before he comes back.”Share this article in your social network
