KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 — Opposition party Bersatu has yet to hear from Khairy Jamaluddin who was sacked Umno if he will accept its offer to join the party where he could be nominated in the upcoming election in six states,The newspaper cited Bersatu information chief Datuk Razali Idris as saying that the invitation to Khairy was made by his party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the latter’s house after the expulsion from Umno in January.

“However, there are a number of conditions set, among which are that he has to submit a form to become a member of Bersatu first, and the seat he contests will be determined by the Perikatan Nasional leadership,” Razali was quoted as saying. Razali said he would personally welcome Khairy, a former Umno Youth chief, as a member of Bersatu as long as the latter abides by the party’s decision on where to field him as a candidate in the state election – whether it be in Selangor or Negeri Sembilan.

Khairy was sacked from Umno in January with 44 others for criticising the party leadership. He later said he would not appeal the decision.
