The relevant authorities are in the process of replacing the “plastic road barrier” at the Petron roundabout in town with concrete road barriers to reduce congestion.
Executive Officer of the Kunak District Council Mohd Nazri Pintal said the plastic barrier was initially installed at the location from Nov 3, 2021 as an initiative of the Local Authorities and the JKR to see the effectiveness in reducing traffic congestion especially during peak hours.It was due to severe congestion in the roundabout area near the Petron gas station, especially vehicles that want to fill up from the main access road from Jalan Kunak Spur here.
