Premier Dominic Perrottet announced rental bidding will be banned from Saturday, December 17. 9News
"We know right across the country the property market is tight and the rental market is difficult," he said."The set price will be the price. We want to make sure tenants across NSW have that certainty and know when they're looking for the home the rental price that is advertised is the rental price they will have to pay.
The fines are "significant", Dominello said, up to $5500 for an individual and $11,000 for a corporation. Digital services minister Victor Dominello said there are substantial fines for people who encourage rent bidding. Bridie said when she and her partner spoke with real estate agents and landlords the practice of rent bidding was being encouraged due to the high demand.
